Mosaics is the art of creating images by arranging small pieces of color from glass, stone, or other materials. This art is a technique in decoration art and is also an aspect of interior decoration. Mosaics are often used in cathedrals.
Small pieces that are usually rectangular shaped glass with different colors are called tesserae and are used to form patterns or drawings.

Freestyle Mosaic

Creating a freestyle mosaic is a craft project with mosaic tiles, broken ceramics, glass cabochons and any other small, flat objects can support. Thinset is a standard adhesive material used in outdoor project mosaics because of its durability and resistance to elements. For indoor projects, it is not necessary to use thinset; Strong handicraft crafts like Weldbond, E6000 or Clear liquid nails can work well. Spread the adhesive over a small piece at a time, placing a mosaic or bit tile. You should leave about 1/8 of an inch between the mosaic pieces as you place them on your project.
With freestyle mosaics, there is no pattern to follow - just put bits in a way that pleases you. The end result will be a zoo of color and texture. Wait at least 24 hours for the glue to actually paste before you add grout. Grouting is simple, you just spread the material in the cracks between each piece. The hardest part about grouting is cleaning. You should remove all the grout from the mosaic pieces of your face before it dries or your tile and ceramic surfaces can become turbid. Clean the surface with warm water and sponge until all the grout on the mosaic bit is erased. Wait until it dries its grout, and then apply a grout sealer to protect your project from moisture and staining.

You can use the same craft mosaic technique to create a patterned mosaic as you use to create a freestyle mosaic. The only difference is that you draw your pattern directly to your table or plantation before you apply the adhesive. Layered Mosaic

Create an easy mosaic project without the need for grouting. The mosaic craft technique is the same principle as with other mosaic artworks, but pieces of ceramic, tile and laminated glass are not just placed side by side. You can use this technique on small projects such as mosaic frames, vases or planters. Basically, anything you can mosaic in the traditional way with thinset and grout, you can make it as a layered mosaic. Start by applying the adhesive on the back of your personal pieces. Strong handicraft glue is the best choice for making a layered mosaic because it is easier to apply. If your layered mosaics will be used outdoors, use Liquid Nails or waterproof adhesives. Glue the mosaic material for your project, the pieces on the side fit each other you want. Go back to all parts, fill the gap bit gap with the other above with the bits you have placed. How to Make Mosaic Tiles
